Privacy policy

This policy explains what information the Barrow & Barrow project app at app.barrowsurvey.com (the "app") keeps, why, and who it's shared with. Barrow & Barrow ("we") runs the app for its own staff, to manage land surveying clients and projects.

What the app keeps

• Staff: the name, email address and profile picture from your Google sign-in, and the role, phone number and project assignments recorded in the app.
• Clients: names, company names, contact names, email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses.
• Projects: numbers, names, descriptions, estimates, locations (latitude and longitude), status, priority and who is assigned.
• QuickBooks: the link between each client and its QuickBooks customer, each project's job, and a list of customer names used to prevent duplicates. The app's access tokens for QuickBooks are stored encrypted.
• Google Drive: the IDs of the project folders it creates or links. The files themselves stay in Google Drive.

How it's used

Only to run Barrow & Barrow's business: tracking clients and projects, keeping customers and project jobs in step with our QuickBooks company, creating project folders in Google Drive, and showing project locations on maps. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.

Who it's shared with

Only the services the app needs to work:

• Intuit (QuickBooks Online): client and project job details, sent to our own QuickBooks company.
• Google: sign-in, and project folders in our Google Workspace Drive.
• DigitalOcean: hosts the app and its database in the United States.
• Map and address search: addresses typed into the location search go to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, and maps load tiles from the U.S. Geological Survey and OpenStreetMap. These services see the search text or map area and your IP address.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies

The app uses one cookie, to keep you signed in. It doesn't use analytics, tracking or advertising cookies. Your browser also remembers a few display choices, such as the last map view and your preferred maps app.

Security

Only Barrow & Barrow staff with company Google accounts can sign in. Connections use HTTPS, QuickBooks access tokens are encrypted, the database isn't reachable from the internet, and it's backed up nightly, with backups kept for 14 days.

How long it's kept

For as long as we need it for the business and our records. Disconnecting QuickBooks in the app's Settings revokes the app's access at Intuit and deletes its stored QuickBooks tokens.
